I notice the same warming up effect on my system, takes a few hours. And I thought... could it be the speakers warming up? ...

Electronluv,
As I understand you were a few years out of audio business and it looks like you are back, nice to see.
I saw at your site just MF compression drivers not the bass drivers. Anyhow, I have a few questions to ask. You use berylli...

I do not look for beryllium diaphragms, I just was wondering if someone has succeeded to manufacture them in “basement conditions”. As I understand it shall be VERY difficult.
Well, your driver might be interesting. If I was able to accommodat...

No, I'm afraid not. I think the upperbass is perhaps some new production (Mike Harvey) 15" Vitavox Alnico item and I think there is a TAD unit behind the brass trumpet but I don't know which one. You'd need to ask. I think there are various options...

If you know how in some optical systems imagery get destroyed when an aperture getting closed to F64 or even smaller, then you understand what happens in compression driver when frequency get higher and spaces smaller. Yes, the proximity of wavelengt...

Hi all
I have experimented a bit with rear tubes on compression drivers.
Chucked the back covers in a lathe and made a suitable hole
for the rear tube, matching the area behind the diaphragm.
Got "better" results to my ears with wool filled tub...

Hi all.....

I just wish somewhere would show up a manufacturer that would be able to produces compression drivers (or any drivers!!!) with sonic objectives…

This is probably the reason I can listen to EV Patrician IV in relatively small space and close to the speaker without much of fatigue. The other factor must be that it's 4- way design with narrow band-pass for each horn. EV T25 2" phenolic com...

I was right before but now I really review my rightness for a new perspective. Yes, the compressions drivers are the subject of clean signal but it what I witness with the new 6-chenals DSET put what I said above in another extreme dimension. I do no...
"another big selling point to me was the 505 being a low resonance compression driver.. there just aren't many drivers with a resonance in the 80 to 100 Hz range like this driver... I have just begun my playing, but am already quite...

Romy,I'm new here, and I have read your posts in the forum. I
have some questions that relate to this post of yours: 'The midbass horn is
a pain in ass, a big pain!!! The GOTO-Jackson horn went for the very noble
small throat size – somethin...
Where Romy is wrong is the cost of TAD drive units.
Well, perhaps my outdated memory plays a bad joke on me. What I remember from beginning of 2000s that TAD 2001 cost around $1200 retail with “street price” of $900. The w...
If they are modifying conventional drive units by hand, the labour costs alone can be prohibitively expensive. The fact that they are using heavy Alnico magnets and coating the diaphrams suggests that these units do not co...

Yesterday I spoke with a guy at a Russian audio forum who reported that he played with addressing many problems of compression driver by pumping ferrofluid in the gap. I am not a big fun of ferrofluiding generally and in case of compression drivers i...

Xandcg, these bass compression drivers is a controversial
subject. T think there are 3 of them ALE 160 and P1260

However, 6” exit might be a bit too wide for compre...

I spoke to the owner of the company. The drivers are copies of Western Electric 555 (but the owner insists that they use genuine NOS WE diaphragms membranes) but they can be custom made to fit in with one's requirements. I didn't know such a thing wa...

Since no driver is actually full range, driver selection is partly conditioned by how well it plays with the other drivers it will be used with, and - very certainly - the crossovers it will be used with, also baffle shape(s) and size(s), amps(s), an...

Of course, any speaker is a compromise rather than a "solution" for the complex problems of "phase", which can hardly be "solved" by fixing driver diaphragms in the same verticle plane, at least relative to the listener. Not to say that this is not w...

Anthony, I agree with your central observation, and I have used paralleled HF drivers for decades, starting with the old Peerless paper tweeters paired with RTR6 electrostatic arrays, and now paper whizzers with Audaphon ribbons. As you know, this ca...
